Fun On The Run Paintball Park Celebrates Its Founding Story and More Than Three Decades of Paintball

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fun On The Run Paintball Park traces its roots back to 1989 when founders Mike Creamer and Ray Knight discovered a sport that would ultimately become a lifelong passion and a family business spanning generations.

The story began when Creamer and Knight played paintball for the first time at a local facility. When that location announced it was closing, the two friends decided to take a chance on keeping the sport alive for themselves and others.

With a small amount of money borrowed on credit, they purchased ten Survival Game SplatMaster paintball pistols and basic equipment. Their original goal was simple: generate enough revenue to pay for their own paintball games.

"We thought we'd run a few games and still have plenty of time to play ourselves," said the Creamer family. "Instead, the response was so strong that we quickly found ourselves spending more time operating games than playing them."

Fun On The Run Paintball Park opened on approximately 14 acres of rented property in Parker County. The facility originally featured a single playing area known as the "Small Field." As participation grew, a second area known as the "Big Field" was added, followed by a small speedball field.

The park's name was chosen deliberately. During paintball's early years, many people viewed the sport as a military-style activity. The founders wanted to emphasize a different message—that paintball was about recreation, excitement, and having fun with friends and family.

The name "Fun On The Run" reflected that philosophy and remains unchanged more than 35 years later.

In 1993, Ray Knight departed the company, leaving the Creamer family to continue operating and expanding the business.

What began as a small operation with ten rental paintball pistols has since grown into one of North Texas' longest-running paintball destinations, serving generations of players and helping introduce thousands of people to the sport.

Today, Fun On The Run Paintball Park continues the same mission established in 1989: providing a fun, safe, and memorable outdoor experience for players of all skill levels.

FORT WORTH, Texas — As interest in tactical outdoor sports continued to grow, Fun On The Run Paintball Park expanded its offerings in 2013 with the introduction of Airsoft and the opening of a new themed playing field known as the District. The addition of Airsoft provided players with another outdoor recreational option while building upon the park's long-standing commitment to action sports. The new program welcomed both experienced Airsoft players and newcomers looking for an immersive team-based experience. That same summer, Fun On The Run introduced the District Field, one of the most ambitious field projects in the park's history. Designed to create an urban-style environment, the District featured structures, obstacles, and layouts intended to simulate close-quarters gameplay and objective-based missions. The field quickly became one of the park's most recognizable attractions and remains an important part of the facility's field lineup. FORT WORTH, Texas — As paintball grew in popularity, many families searched for ways to introduce younger players to the sport in a safer and more approachable format. In 2012, Fun On The Run introduced Pee-Wee Paintball, creating an option specifically designed for younger participants and families looking for age-appropriate outdoor activities. Building on that success, Fun On The Run became an early adopter of Low Impact Paintball in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2015. Low Impact Paintball utilizes .50 caliber paintballs and specialized equipment to deliver the same excitement and gameplay as traditional paintball while reducing impact energy by approximately 67 percent compared to traditional .68 caliber paintball. The introduction of Low Impact Paintball allowed the park to expand participation opportunities and lower the minimum playing age to 8 years old. Rather than replacing traditional paintball, the program was designed to complement it. Fun On The Run expanded its rental fleet to include both .50 caliber Low Impact equipment and traditional .68 caliber paintball equipment, allowing players to choose the experience that best matched their comfort level and skill. The addition of Pee-Wee Paintball and Low Impact Paintball helped introduce thousands of new players to the sport and reinforced the park's commitment to making outdoor recreation accessible to a wider audience. Today, families, birthday groups, church groups, schools, and first-time players continue to use these programs as an introduction to paintball. FORT WORTH, Texas — By the late 1990s, the popularity of Fun On The Run Paintball Park had outgrown its original Parker County location. To meet increasing customer demand and create opportunities for future growth, the park relocated to its current location at 2621 Roberts Cut Off Road in Fort Worth around 2000. The move represented a dramatic expansion for the business. What had started on approximately 14 acres grew into a 43-acre facility within the Fort Worth city limits. The new property allowed Fun On The Run to begin developing larger and more immersive playing environments. The first major fields included the Wild West Field, known today as the West Field, and a second course simply referred to as Field 2. As player participation continued to grow, additional themed playing fields were added over the years. One of the most notable additions was the Castle Field, which quickly became a favorite among players. Growth continued throughout the next decade, eventually leading to the development of ten unique playing fields across the property. While the fields have evolved and changed over time, the goal has remained the same: providing players with a variety of game environments and experiences. The expansion was driven by increasing participation in paintball and growing demand from customers seeking larger facilities and more diverse playing experiences. Today, Fun On The Run Paintball Park occupies more than 43 acres and continues to evolve with new attractions, field improvements, and experiences for players of all skill levels.
